Biography

Nick Dorward is a quantitative human geographer whose research focuses on the intersection of political science, global development, and urban studies. His primary interests revolve around the demographic causes and political consequences of urbanization in low- and middle-income countries. He explores topics such as urban protest mobilization, urban systems boundary analysis, and poverty mapping, utilizing spatial statistical models, geographic data science, and causal inference methods to answer critical political geographic questions. Before joining the University of Southampton, he was an ESRC Fellow at the School of Geographical Sciences at the University of Bristol, where he completed his PhD in 2022.
