Biography

Nick Green is a Chartered Town Planner and Chartered Building Surveyor with over 20 years of experience in research and analysis of large-scale long-term settlement patterns in the UK. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a member of the Town and Country Planning Association. Originally trained as a Chartered Building Surveyor with a specialization in the restoration of historic buildings, he obtained his MPhil and PhD in Town Planning from University College London. Prior to his current position as a Lecturer at the University of Manchester, he served as Projects Policy Officer for the TCPA and as a Research Fellow in various universities, including Salford and Liverpool. His research includes extensive analysis and writing on social geographical networks and the evolution of settlement patterns over time. His recent book, "Settlement Patterns in Britain: Past, Present and Future Foretold in Eight Essays," was published by Routledge. He is actively engaged with professional bodies, contributing to several committees and initiatives related to sustainable development goals.
