Biography

Nick Harris is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He holds a B.A. (Honours) in Psychology from Saint Mary’s University and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Lakehead University. After completing an internship with the Northern Ontario Psychology Internship Consortium, specializing in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, he relocated to St. John’s, Newfoundland, joining the university in August 2016. In addition to his academic work, Nick maintains a clinical practice as a registered Clinical Psychologist, focusing primarily on youth and families facing mental health challenges, including issues related to substance use and problematic technology use. His research interests encompass substance use and behavioral addictions, particularly the legalization of non-medical cannabis in Canada, with a significant portion of his research focused on cannabis use among young adults. He is interested in further exploring the psychological impacts of technology use on adolescents and young adults. Nick has contributed to numerous publications addressing these topics.
