Dr. Nick Nugent

Biography

Nick Nugent is an Assistant Professor at Harvard University, specializing in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, computer crime, internet law, and intellectual property. Before entering academia, Nick served as Senior Corporate Counsel at Amazon, where he supported Amazon Web Services, the company's cloud computing service. He has experience working with European regulators on issues like net neutrality, cybersecurity, and telecommunications policy. Previously, Nick worked as an attorney at Microsoft, where he supported the Azure cloud computing service and held various business roles in the technology sector, including lead negotiator and product manager at Amazon. Nick also has experience in private practice, having worked as an associate attorney at Hogan Lovells and Finnegan, focusing on technology transactions, telecommunications deals, and patent litigation. He holds a law degree and an undergraduate degree in computer science and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Additionally, Nick serves as Vice Chair of the Number Resource Organization's Numbering Counsel for the American Region of Internet Numbers (ARIN) and acts as a liaison for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
