Biography

Nikolay Yakovets is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and Information Systems at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His main area of study is databases and data-intensive systems, with a particular interest in the foundations of databases and efficient data analytics engineering for high-performance data processing systems. Nikolay's current focus is on the design and implementation of core database technologies, particularly for the management and efficient processing of massive graph data. He emphasizes educational activities in data modeling, databases, data management, data analytics, and database technology. His doctoral research at the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University, completed in 2017, was centered on optimizing the efficient processing of complex path queries in large graph databases. Nikolay holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Computer Science, and his MSc thesis involved a case study on the migration of enterprise security databases conducted in collaboration with IBM's Center for Advanced Studies. He has also engaged in various projects funded by the Government of Canada (NSERC) addressing topics related to high-performance data processing systems and natural language processing algorithms.
