Biography

Nicola Braghieri is a Professor of Theory and Practice of Digital Fine Arts at the School of Architecture of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). He was born in Milan and completed his doctorate in Theory and Methodology of Architecture. He has held professorships at the University of Genoa and TU Darmstadt and has been a visiting professor at the ETH Zurich, and various other European universities. Braghieri served as the Director of the Section Architecture at EPFL from 2015 to 2019, where he initiated significant reforms focusing on the integration of humanities into architectural design. He is also a member of the Board of the Doctoral School of the Architecture Faculty at Genoa and the EDAr program at EPFL. Braghieri's research interests lie at the intersection of art and science, primarily focusing on the processes of visual representation in architecture and urban territories. His achievements include directing the Arts Sciences Laboratory (LAPIS) at EPFL since 2013, co-founding the architectural firm EX-M, and supervising numerous PhD students. His work has been exhibited internationally and published in various prestigious architectural magazines.
