Biography

Nicola Charwat has over twenty years of experience in the tertiary education sector. Originally from the UK, she completed her LLB(Hons) and LLM in International Law, and the Professional Legal Practice Course before moving to Australia to undertake her PhD in Law at the University of Melbourne. Nicola worked as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Melbourne and as an Associate Lecturer at Deakin University before joining the Department of Business Law and Taxation at the Monash Business School. Since her appointment at Monash University, Nicola has held various leadership positions, including Deputy Head of Department and Director of HDR. She is committed to excellence in education and strongly supports staff development through mentoring and collaboration. Achieving a HEA Fellowship, she has been involved in projects that integrate deep culture and integrity in pedagogy. Her research interests specifically focus on international law, trade law, governance, and social justice. Nicola actively supervises PhD students and teaches courses related to international trade and commercial law.
