Biography

Nicola Trowbridge Cooney earned a joint B.A. in Afro-Portuguese Brazilian Studies and French from King's College, University of London, and is an Associate of King's College. She completed her Ph.D. in Romance Languages at Harvard University. Cooney directs the Portuguese language program and serves as a Faculty Fellow Adviser at Butler College, Princeton University. She teaches courses on the cultures and literatures of the Portuguese-speaking world. Her research interests encompass second-language acquisition, poetry, Luso-African literatures, film, identity politics, and the Luso-Afro-Asian-Brazilian sphere.
