Biography

Nicola McMeekin has worked as an accountant for 20 years before pursuing studies in Health Technology Assessment (HTA). She completed her MSc at the University of Glasgow in 2013, during which she also worked with the Health Economics Group at Newcastle University, focusing on lung transplantation clinical trials. After completing her MSc in 2015, she began her role as a Research Assistant at HEHTA, concentrating on economic evaluations in conjunction with clinical trials. Her work includes evaluating interventions for adults with intellectual disabilities experiencing depression, methods to reduce COPD exacerbations, lung cancer screening, and financial incentives to promote smoking cessation among pregnant women. She is involved in feasibility studies that assess acceptability and feasibility, contributing to economic evaluations, particularly in the context of digital health interventions for individuals with severe intellectual disabilities. Her PhD focuses on developing new conceptual models for economic evaluations to explore clinical trial data further.
