Biography

Nicola Palmer is a Reader in Criminal Law at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London. She is the author of 'Courts in Conflict: Interpreting Layers of Justice Post-Genocide Rwanda' (Oxford University Press, 2019). Palmer's research focuses on international criminal law, transitional justice, legal anthropology, and socio-legal studies, particularly in the context of Central Africa. She has served as the Global Justice Research Fellow at St Anne’s College, Oxford, and has been involved in various projects funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and the British Academy. Her work engages with complex themes of mass violence, resistance, and methodologies in transitional justice, exploring how different legal processes intersect in the wake of exceptional violence. Her ongoing research addresses the implications of migration in post-conflict contexts, specifically the role of Rwanda in international migration discussions.
