Nicola Pratt is a Professor in International Politics at the University of Warwick, where she has been a member of the staff since July 2009. Prior to her tenure at Warwick, she taught at the University of East Anglia. With extensive experience living and working in Egypt, Pratt's research and teaching explore the intersections of Middle East politics with feminist, decolonial, and queer international relations theory. She is particularly interested in how the lives of everyday people are shaped by and in turn shape national and international political dynamics, with a focus on themes such as war, peace, security, authoritarianism, and democracy. Over the years, she has written extensively on women's activism, human rights, and social mobilization in the Middle East. Notably, she led a research project titled 'Politics of Popular Culture in Egypt: Contested Narratives of the 25 January 2011 Uprising and Aftermath', which included the creation of a digital archive documenting the aftermath of the uprising. Furthermore, Pratt has engaged with activism and has been a regular speaker on social movements. Her academic contributions include serving as an Associate Editor for the British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies and holding leadership roles in various academic societies. She welcomes Ph.D. students interested in research topics related to comparative international politics, particularly those focusing on postcolonial, decolonial, feminist, and queer approaches.
