Biography

Professor Shelton heads the Health Social Surveys Research Group and serves as the Deputy Head of the Research Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London. Her research primarily focuses on health geography and health surveillance, utilizing large and complex health data sets to measure outcomes. She has specific interests in the UK Census, alcohol consumption, physical activity, place, work, health, and wellbeing. Currently, she is the Principal Investigator for CeLSIUS (Centre for Longitudinal Study Information User Support) and leads a project concerning the ONS Longitudinal Study from 2020-2025. Additionally, she was the Principal Investigator for Census Innovation at CeLSIUS, long noted for her contributions to the field. Professor Shelton is the founding Director of the BSc in Population Health and previously directed the MSci in Population Health Sciences from 2013 to 2019.
