Biography

Nicola Tollin is a Professor at the University of Southern Denmark, specializing in Urban Resilience and Sustainable Urban Development. He holds a MSc in Architecture from the University IUAV Venice, an M.Phil. in Sustainability from the Technical University of Catalunya, and a Ph.D. in Sustainability from the same institution. His research focuses on Urban Climate Adaptation and Mitigation, Disaster Risk Reduction, and the Circular Economy. Over the past 20 years, he has gained significant international experience in sustainable development, resilience, and climate-related projects, coordinating and participating in numerous education and research initiatives across countries including Colombia, the Philippines, and Brazil. Tollin has authored over 100 scientific publications and has been active in delivering over 150 presentations worldwide. He is a co-founder of the Recycling Cities International Network and serves as the Executive Director of the RESURBE International Program on Urban Resilience. Additionally, he has held positions at various academic institutions, working towards building effective policies and frameworks for sustainability and resilience in urban settings.
