Biography

Nicolaas Warouw is a Senior Lecturer at UNSW Canberra, specializing in social science research with a focus on industrial labor in Indonesia, labor activism, and working-class culture. He earned his Ph.D. in anthropology from the Australian National University in 2004, where he conducted ethnographic research on manufacturing workers and modernity in western Java. Following his doctoral studies, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV) in Leiden, Netherlands, from 2009 to 2010. Since joining UNSW Canberra in 2013, he has been actively teaching and contributing to research projects in the field of anthropology.
