Biography

Nicolai Cramer was born in Stuttgart, Germany. He studied chemistry at the University of Stuttgart, where he graduated in 2003 and earned his PhD in 2005 under the guidance of Professor Sabine Laschat. He undertook research at Osaka University in Japan and later joined Professor Barry M. Trost's group at Stanford University as a postdoctoral fellow in 2006. In 2007, he began his habilitation at ETH Zurich under the associated chair of Professor Erick M. Carreira and received his venia legendi in 2010. That same year, he started as an Assistant Professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2013 and Full Professor in 2015. His main research program focuses on enantioselective metal-catalyzed transformations in the synthesis of biologically active molecules.
