Biography

Nicolas Levrat is a full professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva since 2001, where he also serves as the Director of the doctoral program. He has held positions including Director of the European Institute from 2007 to 2013 and Director of the Global Studies Institute from 2013 to 2015. His teaching and research encompass European law, territorial collectivities and European integration, federalism and democracy in Europe, as well as international organizations law. His research interests involve European institutional law, European legal orders, the status of public collectivities in Europe, minority group rights, cross-border cooperation, governance within complex institutional systems, and Switzerland-Europe relations. Additionally, he is an associate member of the International Law Centre and the Public Law Centre at ULB, co-founder of the Transboundary and Inter-territorial Norms Study Network, and holds memberships in various academic committees. He has authored several works examining the democratic nature of European construction, the organization of territorial power in a global context, and the European legal frameworks.
