Biography

Nicolas Thibault is a micropaleontologist specializing in calcareous nannofossils and stratigraphy. His primary research interests include precise dating and large-scale correlations to improve the Geologic Time Scale, paleoclimate studies, and the evolution of marine life. With expertise in carbon-isotope stratigraphy and orbital climate change, he focuses on intervals from the Cretaceous to the Early Paleozoic in the region of Baltoscandia. Nicolas has held positions at the University of Copenhagen since 2009, including as an Associate Professor in Paleontology and previously as an Assistant Professor. He completed his PhD in Earth Sciences at Université Pierre et Marie Curie in 2005, with a thesis on calcareous nannoplankton of the Maastrichtian. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to his field with 61 peer-reviewed papers and numerous collaborations across Europe. Nicolas is actively involved in various scientific associations and serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for several academic journals in his domain.
