Biography

Nicole Catherine is committed to understanding and improving the health and well-being of children through public policies needed to reach these goals. She serves as the Associate Director of the Children’s Health Policy Centre and holds the Canada Research Chair in Child Health Equity Policy (Tier II). Her research aims to help leaders in government and public health create and implement programs that prevent problems in early childhood and promote lifelong health and well-being. Dr. Catherine works closely with communities and service providers to ensure the perspectives of children and families are centered and prioritized. Her research methodology includes community-engaged research, surveys, semi-structured interviews, randomized controlled trial evaluations, and longitudinal data analysis. Currently, her work addresses critical questions such as: What matters for families who don’t receive support in preventing mental health issues early in life? How can prevention programs be adapted to different cultures? What insights can large datasets provide on what works best for children in various contexts?
