Biography

Nicole Errett is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at the University of Washington. Her research focuses on the development and implementation of health impact policies that aim to build resilience in the context of public health emergencies and climate change. She works closely with public health practitioners, emergency managers, and community-based organizations to design and implement policy-relevant research that contributes to real-world solutions for pressing disaster and climate health problems. Nicole leverages qualitative survey methods and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams. She serves as the inaugural Director of the UW Center for Disaster Resilient Communities and co-founded the Collaborative Extreme Event Resilience (CEER) network. Nicole has held various roles including Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Policy Legislative Director for the Baltimore City Mayor's Office. She holds a PhD in Health Policy, an MSPH in Health Policy, and a BA in Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, she completed post-doctoral training in coastal community resilience at the University of British Columbia.
