Biography

Nicole Goodman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Brock University. Her recent research focuses on the effects of digital technology on Canadian political institutions and actors, with a strong emphasis on political behavior and public policy. Dr. Goodman is currently working on a book that explores the adoption of technology during elections. Her studies cover political participation, public policy, Indigenous politics, and local government. Dr. Goodman led a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funded study on the 2014 Ontario municipal elections, assessing the effects of internet voting on voters and election administration across 47 municipalities. She is part of multi-year SSHRC-funded research projects that aim to understand the impact of digital technology on Canadian cities, particularly in relation to Indigenous communities. The findings from her projects have been presented as testimony to the Standing Committee of the Legislative Assembly (Ontario) Special Committee on Electoral Reform and have been featured in major Canadian media outlets. Dr. Goodman’s work is supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and Mitacs.
