Professor Dr. Nicole Grobert

Biography

Nicole Grobert's research group focuses on the synthesis, processing, and characterisation of novel carbon and boron nitride non-carbon based materials. This includes the study of nanoparticles, nanotubes, nanofibers, nanorods, and 2D nanomaterials, along with multifunctional hierarchical nanostructures. Her team develops new production processes that utilize chemical vapor deposition, electrospinning, template routes, and wet-chemical techniques for controlled manufacturing of nanomaterials. The research employs state-of-the-art situ characterisation methods critical for understanding the role of individual growth parameters in the controlled formation of materials and their structure-property relationships. Collaborative efforts with leading industry partners emphasize the implementation of tailored sustainable materials for end-user applications in healthcare and energy sectors, especially those suitable for extreme conditions.
