Dr. Nicole Haggerty

Biography

Nicole Haggerty is an Associate Professor at Ivey Business School, University of Western Ontario, specializing in Information Systems. Her academic journey began in the private sector as a senior executive before transitioning to academia, where she focuses on maximizing the effectiveness of IT-enabled organizational performance. Dr. Haggerty’s research primarily examines the increasing importance of cross-functional knowledge sharing and virtual competence mechanisms that enhance value creation through technology. Notably, her recent projects involve digital transformation initiatives in the healthcare sector, particularly the effective implementation of electronic health records within hospital settings. Throughout her career, her work has been published in several leading journals including MIS Quarterly and the Journal of Management Information Systems. She has successfully supervised nine PhD students at Ivey, focusing on Health Information Science, and has demonstrated a commitment to education, having taught faculty development workshops on active learning methods to over 500 faculty members across various countries. In recognition of her leadership and contributions, she received the Emerging Leaders Award from the Ivey Alumni Association and the Innovations in Teaching Award from the Case Centre in the UK. Dr. Haggerty is also known as a social innovator through her involvement in the Ubuntu Management Education Initiative, which collaborates with African universities to enhance case-based education.
