Dr. Nicole Jamison

Biography

Nicole Jamison is a Lecturer in Early Childhood Education at Macquarie University and Director of Early Childhood undergraduate and postgraduate Initial Teacher Education degrees. She is also an Assistant Director at the Centre for Research in Early Childhood Education and a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. Nicole has taught and researched in diverse early childhood, primary, and tertiary settings across Canada and the UK. Her experience includes being a Lecturer and Course Director for the BA(Hons) in Early Childhood Studies at Bath Spa University and serving as a sessional instructor at the University of Alberta in Canada. With over a decade of experience as an early childhood teacher in Alberta, she has also mentored teacher trainees and facilitated professional development workshops. Her interdisciplinary PhD research focused on understanding the experiences and complexities of young immigrant children's lives in Canada, employing creative methodologies to explore their perspectives and narratives. She specializes in children's play, arts-informed creative pedagogies, reconceptualist intercultural practices in early childhood, and is actively involved in various research projects and collaborations.
