Dr. Nicole Martinez

Biography

Nicole Martinez is an Associate Professor at the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science at the University of San Diego. She holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of San Diego, a Master's in Nursing from the Western University of Health Sciences, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Martinez is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Emergency Nurse Practitioner with 17 years of experience in emergency health. She has previously served as the Director of the DNP Program at the University of California, Irvine, as well as Clinical Faculty Director for the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Georgetown University. In addition to her academic roles, Dr. Martinez has been actively involved in professional organizations such as the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners. She focuses on research at the intersection of emergency care and social determinants of health, particularly investigating socioeconomic status, access to healthcare, and cultural influences on emergency care experiences. Her commitment is to uncover insights that lead to effective interventions and improved health outcomes for marginalized populations.
