Dr. Nicole Smith

Biography

Nicole Smith is a Clinical Instructor at the University of Michigan's School of Nursing where she has worked for thirteen years. She has developed a strong professional foundation in various aspects of the nursing profession, including long-term care, home care, hospice care, and community health. She graduated in 2019 with a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from Lourdes University, and for the past four years, she has focused her clinical efforts on community health, with an emphasis on patient-centered care. Her experience includes teaching undergraduate nursing students in medical surgical rotations, mentoring fellow nurses, and precepting new employees and student interns. Nicole is committed to integrating modern healthcare topics, including medical marijuana, into nursing education. In recognition of her work, she received 2nd place at the University of Toledo’s Graduate Research Symposium in 2019 for her Capstone Proposal on integrating medical marijuana into nursing education, and she was awarded the graduate research award from Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Chapter in 2018. With a diverse background and a dedication to teaching and mentorship, Nicole plays a vital role in shaping future nurses in an ever-evolving healthcare landscape.
