Biography

Nicole Starace received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she worked in the lab of Dr. Aaron T. Beck, the founder of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This experience sparked her interest in the growing field of Evidence-Based Psychotherapy. She earned her MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from UCLA, training under Dr. Bruce Chorpita, focusing on the Dissemination and Implementation of Evidence-Based Psychotherapy. Joining the faculty at Stanford in 2015, she held appointments as Clinical Instructor and Clinical Assistant Professor, where she championed evidence-based practices and took on leadership roles as a clinical supervisor for trainees in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, specifically in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. After leaving Stanford in 2022 to relocate back to the East Coast, she returned in 2023 as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Starace specializes in the treatment of OCD, anxiety, tic disorders, and parenting challenges related to disruptive behaviors and anxiety. She works with children, teens, and adults.
