Biography

Professor Nicole Strittmatter holds a professorship in Analytical Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Her research focuses on the development and application of situ ambient mass spectrometry methods and imaging mass spectrometry (MSI), as well as multimodal, multi-omics data integration to advance the understanding of complex biological systems. She has led research groups aimed at analyzing the spatial heterogeneity of pre-clinical and clinical tissue specimens and microbial biofilms within medical, environmental, and biotechnological settings. Strittmatter studied Chemistry at Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany, and performed her doctoral studies at the Department of Surgery Cancer at Imperial College London, UK. She served as a Senior Scientist at AstraZeneca R&D headquarters in Cambridge, UK, from 2015-2021, transitioning to Associate Principal Scientist in the MSI group within the Department of Clinical Pharmacology Safety Sciences (CPSS). In 2021, she was appointed to her current professorship in Analytical Chemistry at TUM.
