Biography

Nicole Votruba is a Senior Research Fellow in the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford, where she leads the Global Mental Health & Equity Group. Her research focuses on community-based mental health care for women during pregnancy and after birth, particularly evaluating the SMARThealth Perinatal Mental Health project and the SMARThealth Pregnancy program. Nicole's background combines expertise in psychology and political science, having coordinated global mental health research studies at King’s College London. She has worked as a policy officer for the UK All-Party Parliamentary Group on Global Health and was involved in initiatives to integrate mental health into the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Nicole's doctoral work investigated the interconnections between mental health science and policy in low- and middle-income countries, where she developed the EVITA 2.0 action framework designed to enhance evidence-based policymaking in mental health. Additionally, she has held research fellowships at Wolfson College and the George Institute for Global Health at Imperial College.
