Biography

Nicolle Domnik is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences at Queen's University, where she is also cross-appointed to the Department of Medicine, specializing in Respirology. She completed her Bachelor of Health Sciences in Life Sciences at Queen's University in 2010, followed by a PhD in Physiology in 2015. Her research largely revolves around the intersection of breathing and various states of physiological stress such as exercise and sleep, highlighting the bidirectional impact of these factors. Dr. Domnik has explored patient populations experiencing Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), assessing how CPAP affects movement behaviors and the implications for exercise capacity and motivation. Her current investigations include the effects of nocturnal non-invasive ventilation therapy on breathing in advanced COPD, and she is an active participant in clinical trials, including the Canadian Cohort Obstructive Lung Disease (CanCOLD) study.
