Biography

Nidhi’s core research interests focus on addressing issues of educational inequity for marginalized groups in Southern contexts. She has worked extensively with children and young people with disabilities in South Asia and Africa, investigating their experiences in various educational arrangements, the quality of teaching and learning, and the long-term impact of schooling on their outcomes. A critical aspect of her work is the development of culturally sensitive approaches to educational research, particularly in examining power relations in North-South research partnerships, ethics in research dissemination, and the influence of educational research on policy making for children with disabilities. Nidhi has significant experience collaborating with international agencies such as the World Bank and UNESCO, and she has contributed to pivotal developments in the field of disability education. In 2021, she was appointed Deputy Chair of the UNPRPD Partnership Advisory Group. She is actively involved with the Technical Advisory Council of the World Bank’s Inclusive Education Initiative and serves on the advisory panel for the United Nations Girls' Education Initiative.
