Biography

Niels Bammens is a full-time professor of tax law at KU Leuven. He obtained his law license in 2006 and a Master's degree in Taxation in 2007 from KU Leuven. In 2011, he earned his doctorate in law with his dissertation titled 'The Principle Non-Discrimination in International European Tax Law.' He teaches various courses, including Personal Taxation, International Taxation, and Tax and Labor Agreements across different faculties. Professor Bammens is also a guest lecturer at Eötvös Lorànd University in Budapest and ITC Leiden, specializing in LLM programs related to international European taxation. His research interests include the application and interpretation of double taxation treaties, the evolution of European direct taxation, the interaction between international and European tax law, and the relevance of these treaties for developing countries. He has authored numerous contributions to Belgian and international journals and books, including a notable work published by IBFD in 2011.
