Biography

Niels Bosma is a full professor of Social Entrepreneurship at Utrecht University School of Economics and the head of the department. He holds a PhD in Economic Geography from Utrecht University and an MSc degree in Econometrics from the University of Groningen. Niels has held positions at London Business School, EIM Business Policy Research (now part of the Panteia group), and Erasmus University Rotterdam's Tinbergen Institute. His research focuses on individuals' entrepreneurial innovative behavior in regional social contexts, and he has published in leading academic journals. Niels is a co-founder and coordinator of the Utrecht University Social Entrepreneurship Initiative and serves as a member of GECES, an expert group advising the European Commission on activities related to the Social Business Initiative. He is currently a Member of the Board of Directors and Senior Research Advisor for Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, where he has co-authored global reports from 2006 to 2021.
