Biography

Niels Koehncke completed his undergraduate training in Zoology in 1991 and graduated from Medical School in 1995 at the University of Alberta. He completed his Residency training in Occupational Medicine in 2000, also at the University of Alberta, and holds a Master's Degree in Public Health Sciences with a specialization in Occupational Health. Dr. Koehncke is recognized for his specialty credentials in Occupational Medicine in Canada (FRCPC) and the United States (ABPM). He currently serves as a Professor at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Medicine. In addition to his academic role, he is the Director of the Occupational Medicine Clinic and is actively involved in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to Occupational Medicine, Occupational Hygiene, Toxicology, and Public Health. His research interests and clinical focus include occupational health screening, surveillance, industrial hygiene, occupational noise exposure, and aviation/aerospace medicine. He has held significant positions such as Chief Occupational Medical Officer for the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, integrating his clinical expertise with public health initiatives.
