Biography

Niels Rossing is an Assistant Professor at Aalborg University specializing in sports exercise psychology. With an academic background from the University of Copenhagen and Queen's University in Canada, he has dedicated his career to researching applied interventions that enhance participation and performance in sports among various age groups. His current research interests include action research that utilizes co-creation methods to develop playful coaching materials, focusing on fostering a supportive environment for coaches and athletes alike. Niels is recognized for leading projects such as 'Happy Play', which engaged over 500 coaches across 85 clubs, reflecting his commitment to practical applications of psychological principles in sports. Additionally, he oversees the psychology program at a local elite football academy, mentoring coaches in mental strategies to assist players effectively. Throughout his career, he has supervised numerous undergraduate and master's students, finding fulfillment in witnessing their academic growth. Niels actively contributes to academic discourse as an editor on the Forum Idræt editorial board, championing connections between sports and broader social goals, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
