Dr. Nielsen Fernandez Becker

Biography

Nielsen Fernandez-Becker is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine specializing in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stanford University. He leads the Celiac Disease Program and has extensive experience in diagnosing and managing celiac disease and gluten-associated disorders. His clinical focus includes not only celiac disease (CeD) but also eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), esophageal motility disorders, and other gastrointestinal issues such as eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders and gastroesophageal reflux disease. Dr. Fernandez-Becker prioritizes patient care and translational research, striving to make new discoveries that will enhance the care of his patients. A significant aspect of his work involves clinical trials, including research on treatment-resistant depression that aims to collect valuable information on patients during major depressive episodes and how they respond to various treatments, including vagus nerve stimulation therapy.
