Biography

Dr. Pahlevan joined USC as an Assistant Professor in Aerospace Mechanical Engineering in 2017, and was later appointed in 2017 to the Medicine Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. From 2014 to 2017, he served as a James Boswell postdoctoral scholar at the California Institute of Technology, and as a clinical research investigator at Huntington Medical Research Institutes. He completed his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Tehran, his M.S. at California State University, Northridge, and his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Caltech in 2013. He has received numerous awards, including the NSF CAREER Award and recognition as a Fellow of the American Heart Association in 2024. His research focuses on the interplay of fluid and structure within biological systems, with particular interests in cardiovascular applications and diagnostic methods.
