Professor Nigel Brandon OBE FREng FRS is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Imperial College London and a Professor of Sustainable Development in Energy. He previously served as the Faculty’s Vice Dean (Research) and is the Founding Director of the Sustainable Gas Institute and the Energy Futures Lab. He founded Ceres Power in 2000, a fuel cell company spun out from Imperial College, and RFC Power in 2018, a flow battery company. He is also involved with M-SPIN, a company developing low-cost high surface area materials for electrolysers, fuel cells, and batteries. His accolades include the Castner Medal from the Society of Chemical Industry (2024), the Christian Friedrich Schönbein Gold Medal Honour (2024), and recognition as an International Member of the National Academy of Engineering (2022). He received an OBE in 2011 for services to UK-China scientific collaboration. Throughout his career, he has delivered numerous invited lectures on innovations in electrochemical technologies and their applications in low carbon energy transition.
