Nigel Gooderham is an Emeritus Professor of Molecular Toxicology at Imperial College London. He has previously held the position of Assistant Provost for Academic Promotions and is recognized internationally for his contributions to toxicology, having received the 2018 Bo Holmstedt Memorial Award from EUROTOX. His research interests focus on the mechanisms of chemical carcinogenesis and toxicity, particularly the roles of MiRNAs and genetic toxicity associated with food-derived chemicals and oligonucleotides. Over the years, Dr. Gooderham has trained more than ninety postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers who have gone on to hold senior positions in academia and industry. He has been actively involved in toxicology education, contributing primarily to postgraduate programmes at Imperial College London. Dr. Gooderham served as the founding Director of the MRes Biomedical Research program and has held several influential roles including serving on the UK Government's Advisory Committee on Mutagenicity and as an Executive Member of the Flavour Extract Manufacturer’s Association in the USA. Additionally, he has been involved with numerous expert advisory panels concerning various aspects of toxicology. He has held visiting professor positions in Malaysia and Ghana, and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, as well as the British Toxicology Society, and has been an editor for several toxicology journals.
