Dr. Nihar Desai

Biography

Nihar R. Desai, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the section of Cardiovascular Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. He is the Vice Chief of the section and serves as an investigator at the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation. His work focuses on cardiovascular health services and comparative effectiveness research, examining care patterns to improve clinical outcomes and evaluating the impact of novel care delivery systems on cost and quality. Dr. Desai serves as a clinical consultant for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on various performance measures related to acute myocardial infarction and heart failure. He graduated with the highest honors from Lehigh University and completed his Doctorate in Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and a Master’s in Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health. His residency and clinical fellowship were completed at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and he has been involved in significant research projects including trials and real-world studies to assess care quality and outcomes.
