Dr. Nii Addy

Biography

Nii Addy is the Albert E. Kent Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology at the Yale School of Medicine. He serves as the Director of Faculty Development Collaborative Excellence and co-chairs the Minority Organization Retention Expansion (MORE) Committee. Dr. Addy is dedicated to mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral trainees, organizing initiatives to bolster campus scientific societies. His research focuses on understanding the cholinergic and dopaminergic mechanisms that contribute to substance use and mood disorders, particularly examining how flavor additives in tobacco products influence nicotine addiction. He has contributed to the editorial boards of leading journals such as Neuropsychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry, and has extensive experience as a grant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health. In addition to his academic duties, Dr. Addy hosts a podcast titled 'Addy Hour,' where he engages in discussions on neuroscience, mental health, and culture with influential guests. He has also collaborated on community events to address mental health challenges through holistic approaches.
