Biography

Nike Sun is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He joined the department as an Associate Professor in September 2018 after a successful tenure track position. Sun's research interests primarily lie in the areas of intersection probability and statistical physics, alongside contributions to theoretical computing. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a Master's degree in Statistics from Harvard University in 2009, followed by a Master of Advanced Study in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge in 2010. He then earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from Stanford University in 2014, under the supervision of Amir Dembo. After his Ph.D., he held a Schramm Fellowship at Microsoft New England and continued his academic career at MIT. He was awarded the 2017 Rollo Davidson Prize and the 2020 Wolfgang Doeblin Prize for his contributions to the field. Additionally, Sun served as an Assistant Professor in the Statistics Department at the University of California, Berkeley from 2016 to 2018 before returning to MIT.
