Biography

Nikela Papadopoulou is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Low Carbon Sustainable Computing at the School of Computing Science, University of Glasgow, and a member of the Glasgow Systems Section. Her research focuses on the optimization of high-performance computing (HPC) systems with an emphasis on reducing environmental impact. This research encompasses performance modeling, application optimization co-design, and resource management strategies aimed at improving energy efficiency. She also has a keen interest in applying machine learning techniques to optimize workloads. Before joining the University of Glasgow, she held post-doctoral research positions at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden and the National Technical University of Athens in Greece, contributing to several European R&D projects in high-performance cloud computing, including ACTiCLOUD, EuroEXA, CYBELE, HiDALGO, REGALE, eProcessor, and EUPILOT. She holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and is a member of ACM HiPEAC.
