Biography

Nikki Boyd is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Medical Education with over 20 years of experience as a teacher and educationalist across higher education, secondary education, and charity sectors. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she graduated from Christ Church, Oxford with a degree in Modern History and subsequently completed a PGCE while teaching in the secondary education sector. Nikki also holds a part-time BSc (Hons) in Psychology and an MSc in Psychological Research Methods. Her MSc project involved an exploratory study into teachers' experiences of work-life balance, highlighting her interest in the contextual factors influencing teachers' approaches to work. Since 2011, she has primarily focused on higher medical education, initially with the Royal College of Physicians and later as an Associate Lecturer at The Open University and as an educational consultant within the charity sector. At Imperial College London, she has led workshops for the Faculty of Medicine and has been involved in teaching and supervising a diverse range of educational programs including the STAR programme for MEd in University Learning and Teaching. From 2018 to 2024, Nikki directed the CHERSNet network to promote educational scholarship at Imperial and is currently Programme Director for the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education.
