Biography

Prof. Nikkil Sudharsanan is a behavioral scientist and health economist whose research employs behavioral science insights to design and evaluate interventions aimed at improving the delivery and uptake of preventive health services in low- and middle-income countries. His work particularly focuses on the forces that shape individuals’ health decisions and providers’ care behavior. Currently, he is concentrated on aging in middle-income countries, particularly in Asia and Africa, exploring healthcare services aimed at preventing cardiovascular diseases. Before joining the Technische Universität München, he was a David E. Bell Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University and an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at Heidelberg University. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Public Health in Global Health from Emory University, a Master in Statistics, and a Ph.D. in Population Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Over the years, he has received accolades including the Lecturer Award from the TUM School of Medicine and Health and being a finalist in the Falling Walls Science Breakthrough Year. Additionally, he is a member of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health.
