Biography

Niklas Beisert, born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1977, is a Full Professor in the Department of Physics at ETH Zurich, where he has been since August 2011. His research focuses on theoretical physics, specifically in areas such as quantum field theory, integrable systems, and string theory symmetries. Prior to his position at ETH Zurich, he was the head of a research group at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Potsdam-Golm, Germany, from 2006 to 2011, and he served as a postdoctoral fellow and lecturer, ultimately as an Assistant Professor at Princeton University. Beisert earned his Doctorate from Humboldt University of Berlin in 2004 and holds a diploma in physics from Technische Universität München. He has received numerous prestigious awards including the Humboldt Research Award and the New Horizons Physics Prize. In addition to his academic achievements, he actively engages in developing sustainable practices within the scientific community, particularly with respect to CO₂ emissions.
