Niklas Feldhahn received his PhD in 2006 from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf under the supervision of Professor Markus Müschen. His doctoral research focused on oncogenic signaling in B-lymphoid leukemia. Following his PhD, Dr. Feldhahn joined the laboratory of Professor Nora Heisterkamp at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he studied mechanisms of drug resistance to small-molecule inhibitors. In 2008, he became a senior postdoctoral research fellow in Professor Michel Nussenzweig's lab at Rockefeller University, New York, where he developed in vivo models for DNA damage response genes and analyzed DNA damage in both normal and malignant B-cells using next-generation sequencing methods. In 2013, he started at the Centre for Haematology in the Department of Medicine at Imperial College London as an early career researcher and Bennett Fellow from Blood Cancer UK. He became a Lecturer in the Department of Immunology & Inflammation in 2019. His research group focuses on investigating the function of oncogenes in B-lymphoid and myeloid leukemia, particularly the influence of transcriptional deregulation on leukemia development. His lab work is supported by several prestigious organizations, including Blood Cancer UK and the European Commission.
