Biography

Nikolas Geroliminis is a full professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and head of the Urban Transport Systems Laboratory (LUTS). He joined EPFL after serving as an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Minnesota. Geroliminis holds a diploma in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and both an MSc and PhD in Civil Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. His research mainly focuses on urban transportation systems, traffic flow theory and control, public transportation logistics, and the optimization of large-scale networks. He is known for his work on modeling and estimating travel performance measures on arterial roads, as well as the location of emergency response vehicles within transportation networks. He has served as Associate Editor for Transportation Research Part C and is a member of the Transportation Research Board's Traffic Flow Theory Committee.
