Biography

Nikolas Webster is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Sport Management at the University of Michigan's School of Kinesiology. His research focuses on the cognitive, affective, and behavioral consequences of sport fandom, particularly addressing issues surrounding economics and management in sports. His work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the International Journal of Sport Management and the International Journal of Business, Sports, Tourism, and Hospitality. Prior to his role at the University of Michigan, Dr. Webster held a tenure-track faculty position at Coastal Carolina University, where he taught a range of courses within the sport management discipline, including consumer behavior, data analytics, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, and marketing. He emphasizes professional development for his students and also serves as the Internship Coordinator for the Sport Management Program, as well as a faculty advisor for the Michigan Sport Venture Group (MSVG). Dr. Webster earned his PhD in Sport Management from Florida State University, his MS in Athletic Administration from Indiana University, and his BS in Exercise Science from Indiana University. His research interests span psychology of sport fans, sport consumer behavior, sport entrepreneurship, and the intersection of sports, tourism, and economic development.
