Biography

Nilay joined the Adam Smith Business School in 2020 after completing her PhD in 2019, which investigated the role of building relationships within communities of customer micro-businesses. Prior to joining the Adam Smith Business School, Nilay worked as a Lecturer in Marketing at Glasgow Caledonian University, where she taught online MSc and MBA marketing courses at Edinburgh Napier University. Her prior experience includes working as a Business Advisor, closely engaging with start-ups and social enterprises. This industry experience informs Nilay’s teaching and research interests, which include entrepreneurship, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and social enterprises. She is a member of the School's Marketing and Entrepreneurship research clusters, focusing on topics such as marketing communications, relationship marketing, branding, and the teaching of entrepreneurship. Nilay also serves as an External Associate at UHatch, which is Glasgow Caledonian University’s Business Incubator.
