Biography

Niloofar Sarlati is an Assistant Professor specializing in English Language and Literature at the University of Michigan. She holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature from the University of Minnesota and an M.A. in Cultural Studies from the University of Leeds. With a particular focus on Persian, English, Arabic, and French literary and cultural productions from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, her current book project explores the epistemologies of giving and taking that are informed by political economy, contested encounters, colonialism, and capitalism. Sarlati's work has been published in venues such as Symplokē, Philological Encounters, and Comparative Literature, and she is also contributing an essay to the forthcoming Routledge Companion to Postcolonial and Decolonial Literature.
